Contest Station DF3CB

Contest Station DF3CB

The current DF3CB radio station was built in 1995. The antennas are spread on three towers:

Band Antenna Manufacturer Tower
160m Dipole Tower #2-3
160m Shunt-fed Tower Tower #3
80m Dipole Tower #2-3
80m Shunt-fed Tower Tower #1
40m 3 ele Monobander Force 12 Magnum 340/620 Tower #1
30m 3 ele Monobander Force 12 EF-330 Tower #2
20m 6 ele Monobander Force 12 Magnum 340/620 Tower #1
15m 4 ele Monobander Force 12 Magnum 415/410 Tower #2
10m 4 ele Monobander Force 12 Magnum 415/410 Tower #2
20m-15m-10m Tribander KLM KT34XA Tower #3
17m-12m 3 ele A3WS Cushcraft A3WS Tower #3
6m 7 ele Monobander I0JXX Design Tower #1

Tower #1 - 40m - 20m - 6m
Tower 1 hosts a Force 12 Magnum 340/620 3 ele 40m and 6 ele 20m (interlaced monobanders) and on top a M² 5 ele 6m yagi (until July 2007). I now have a 7 element 6m yagi. At clear weather you can see the Alpine mountains deep into Austria and Switzerland. The whole area is flat and the antennas have a free shot into all directions.

Tower #2 - 30m - 15m - 10m

Tower 2 hosts a Force 12 Magnum 415/410 4 ele 15m and 4 ele 10m (interlaced monobanders) and on top a Force 12 EF330 3 ele 30m monobander.

Tower #3 - Tribander & WARC
Tower #3 is equipped with a KLM KT34XA (20m - 15m - 10m) and a Cushcraft A3WS for 17m and 12m.

The KLM is mainly used on 10m and in contests
for the multiplier station. The A3WS comes up while the
pre-assembled KT34XA is still waiting.

Low Bands
I am now using two fullsize dipoles for 160m and 80m between tower #2 and #3 for the low bands as well as tower #3 which is shunt-fed with an Omega match. The match is made of 40mm titanium-aluminum tubing and designed to work for both 160 and 80m.

This is the Titanex Vertical V160S for 160m and 80m with a height of 27m. The vertical was mounted on the center of the building's roof and used the roof's steel pipe construction as ground net which covers some 4,000 square meters. That really performed very well! Unfortunately I had to remove this antenna from the roof...
